Abiraami P S is an event coordinator, author and dance/movement therapy practitioner. She has academic qualifications in Cultural Studies, Indian Literature, Dance/Movement Therapy, Bharatanatyam and has cleared UGC NET (English). Her areas of interest are Ethnochoreology, Anthropology, Intangible Cultural Heritage and Folklore Studies. Further to publishing 2 books and 4 articles, she has presented her research findings at national and international conferences.
Abiraami is working as a Public Programmes Coordinator at the Museum of Art & Photography, and as a Project Consultant at Creative Movement Therapy Association of India. As a Conference Coordinator at the University of Cambridge’s ReachSci, she conceptualises the conference for the Tourism mini-PhD programme. She is an Industry Expert in the Board of Studies at Mount Carmel College, a member of YOUNGO - the official youth constituency of UNFCCC and a Member of the International Organisation of Folk Art. She's working with the study group Ethnochoreology under the International Council of Traditions of Music and Dance.
Her recent involvements include the UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Campaign and being one of the Indian representatives at Y20 South Africa, the Official Youth Group of G20. A recipient of accolades including the Social Impact and Community Engagement, Best Researcher, Alumnus of the Year, and Commendation by the Deputy Director General from her alma mater and being recognised as the Employee of the Month - April at her workplace.
Abiraami has been a resource person for events at Alphonsa College, Christ (Deemed to be University) and Reva University. She has worked with multiple NGOs in different capacities ranging from blog writing, grant writing, website designing and researching. She has volunteered at national festivals like the Bangalore Literature Festival and Manotsava. She is now pursuing an International Diploma in Language Policies for Multilingualism from the University of Antioquia (UdeA) and the UNESCO Chair in Language Policies for Multilingualism and is learning Indian Sign Language.
